Kauai United Way Walk-A-Thon: October 31, 2009
Any Kauai Non-Profit Can Benefit!

The Boy Scouts participate yearly in Kauai United Way's annual Walk A Thon along with other groups throughout the island.

Kauai United Way will hold its annual Walk-A-Thon on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Kukui Grove. This is an excellent opportunity for any Kauai non-profit group to raise money for their own organization. Proceeds are split evenly between the Kauai non-profit group of each walker?s choice and Kauai United Way?s 27 Participating Agencies. Nearly 100 Kauai non-profits -- including sports teams, church groups, 4-H Clubs, hula halaus, canoe clubs ? earned thousands of dollars for themselves in last year?s walk.

This is Kauai?s easiest fundraiser. Logistics are provided by the Kapaa High School Interact Club and administration by Kauai United Way. All you have to do is get pledges and walk!

Kauai United Way is an independent organization, devoted to serving our whole community since 1946 by supporting hundreds of social service programs through 27 Participating Agencies. Money raised on Kauai stays on Kauai. The annual Walk-A-Thon is a way to raise additional funds for these agencies while simultaneously providing a means for many smaller non-profit groups on our island to raise money for their own causes without going to great effort. The Walk itself is symbolic and you do not need to be able to get to Lihue and walk to participate.

Pledge Forms are available at the Kauai United Way Office which is located at 4374 Kukui Grove St., Ste. 201, Lihue ? same building as Hawaii Care and Cleaning and Nancy Budd?s offices.

A Participating Agency

"I've enjoyed camping and other outdoor activities, meeting other Scouts, and helping the community in our 'Do A Good Turn' projects. The most rewarding experience for me was achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. I can truly say that Scouting has helped me become a better person."
