As they have so many times in the past, the employees of Kauai Island Utility Cooperative, along with their Board of Directors, have come through yet again for the Kauai United Way Annual Campaign. They earned honors for being the number one employee group on the island. Employee and Board participation in the Campaign continues to remain high. All in all more than $20,000 was raised.
?It?s a difficult time,? Scott Giarman, executive director of Kauai United Way said. ?Our message has been that those of us who are fortunate enough to have work need to step up and help our neighbors who are out of work until jobs return. The KIUC Ohana heard our message and responded big time.?
The 2009 Kauai United Way Annual Campaign finished at 95.1% of goal. ?This is a remarkable achievement,? Giarman said, ?and it is a testament to the giving nature that is at the essence of what Kauai is all about.? The 2009 goal was an increase over the 2008 goal.
Money raised in the Campaign is distributed only on Kauai to support dozens of social service programs that save lives and benefit literally tens of thousands of Kauai people annually making life on our island better for us all.
